Billie Jean Live: D.I.Y.

I believe Michael Jackson's most popular outfit is the sequin jacket. This jacket became popular after he wore it for Motown 25 when he performed his hit song "Billie Jean" in 1983. I have always heard that the first jacket he wore he took out of his mother's closet. I also read that he gave it to Sammy Davis, Jr. as a gift. He has worn his jackets during many performances. He even replaced his sequin shirts with a plain white v-ncek t-shirt during the Bad, Dangerous, and History eras. All you need to do is top it off with a black fedora hat, a white rhinestone/sequin glove and the Moonwalk and you'll have the look as well.

If you can master the Moonwalk, then this look is for you.

All you need is:
Black sequin jacket/blazer
Black fedora like hat
White sequin/rhinestone glove
Basic white v-neck t-shirt
Black pants
Black loafers
White/sequin armband
White/sequin socks

He wore it well!

Lorena Turner Photo Shoot

On Sunday December 11, 2011, I had the honor of being photographed by New York and Los Angeles based photographer, Lorena Turner in her New York City studio. Lorena Turner is known for her exhibits which features Michael Jackson impersonators and tribute artists, called "The Michael Jacksons." She is very talented and brings out their inner Michael Jackson. So I was definitely excited and eager to work with her.

Plus it was my first Michael Jackson related photo shoot as well. I also invited two other impersonators/tribute artists to join me, Lamar "MJ" Coleman and MJsRaven, both of which are from New Jersy like me. We were also joined by Lorena's adorable son during the shoot. That day my true Dominique "Mikette" Wilson came out full swing. I can't wait to work with her again. Thank you so much, Lorena!

Hope you all enjoy my photos!

One Ward, One Family Dinner Performance

I was so honored to be asked to perform at the first annual One Ward, One Family Dinner here in Newark, NJ. This was an event to help people come together and have a good meal before the holidays. It was a way for the West Ward of Newark to extend a helping hand to people who are unable to have a warm meal as well.
I was their featured performer. I also received a Resolution from the city of Newark, NJ for my unwavering and heartfelt commitment to the West Ward within the city of Newark, NJ. Yes it read Dominique "Mikette" Wilson. This means that if you want to look up my name 20 years from now, I have made history in the city of Newark, especially for being Newark’s first female Michael Jackson Impersonator/ Tribute Artist. I was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for my participation. I was not expecting either one but so happy because I volunteered and it paid off.
The meal was delicious. They served ham, turkey, yams, stuffing, rice, string beans, biscuits, and cranberry sauce. They even had a cake donated to them from Carlo’s Bakery, the bakery featured on the hit reality show “Cake Boss.” It was also delicious.
People were so happy to see me and they couldn’t wait to see my performance. I went up there and gave them my all. I twirled, moonwalked and just danced my way into their hearts. They clapped, cheered and sung along. It was an awesome show. I had a blast. Afterwards children flocked to me and people took so many photos with me. They even asked for my autograph. I’m so glad I made their day special. Thank you to the City of Newark, NJ, Councilman Ronald C. Rice, and Pamela B. Daniels for giving me the opportunity to make someone's day special and memorable as well as my own. Thanks to my mom, Doretha Roan-Wilson, my sister, Lydia Wilson, and my boyfriend, Richard Boyd for coming out to my performances and continuous support. To my friend, David Liebowitz, for coming all the way from NYC to show love and support as well. Love you all!

Jame's Birthday Party and Performance

This past Friday, I performed at my first kid’s party. It was for my sister’s friend’s son. I also consider him my nephew. He is a young Michael Jackson fan at the age of 8 years-old. He loves to play the game, Michael Jackson: The Experience. He was also excited once he knew I was going to perform. As well as his sister and other children who were attending. The party was at Funtime America.
When we got there, we rode on the Himalaya ride. That’s the floor level ride that goes around forwards and then goes in reverse. I had so much fun. Then we rode the bumper cars. I was definitely a “Speed Demon.” It was also my first time playing Laser Tag. I was on the girls’ team of course, but the boys won.
After that, the children ate their food and it was time for me to perform. I did pretty well considering the spacing. The children as well as the parents enjoyed my performance as well. I wore my Panther Michael outfit to dance in and my Dangerous Tour jacket to appear in. It was just a beautiful day all together. I would do it all over again.

The "First Holiday Party" and Performance

I had another opportunity to perform for the "First Hoilday Party" hosted by the Palm Street Block Association on Saturday December 20,2011. It was at the 43rd Street Cafe in Irvington, New Jersey. They are were surprised to see someone, espcially a woman, dressed as Michael Jackson and actually danced like him. I performed a medley with the songs "Dangerous," "Jam," and "Wanna Be Starting Something."
The party was was so much fun. One of NJ's state senators, Ronald Rice, Sr., and Newark's coucilwoman at large, Mildred Crump, was in attendance. I was fortunate to have an opportunity to perform before them. The music played was very good and a variety. People danced and had a good time. My mom, sister and boyfriend joined me on this adventure. The food was amazing and everyone had a great time. Here is a video of my performance and some photos.
