Diana Ross comes to Newark, NJ

One of the greatest and most popular female performers, Diana Ross, comes to NJPAC in Newark, NJ during her 2013 tour. She is one Motown's breakout artist, hailing from and leading the most legendary female singing group Diana Ross and the Supremes. Not only did she have a dynamite singing career, but she was also a phenomenal actress starring in movies such as "The Wiz," "Mahogany" and nearly winning an Best Actress Academy Award for "Lady Sings the Blues."
The concert was held Friday, August 16th at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The show was an hour and a half of pure enjoyment. Fans of Diana Ross gathered from all over and she put on an amazing show. She opened the she with her hit solo song "I'm Coming Out" which caused the crowd to go wild as she walked out in her red sequin gown and red ruffle robe. She performed classics from her days with the Supremes such as "Baby Love," "Stop! In the Name of Love," and more. She also paid homage to "The Wiz" by performing the hit song on the soundtrack "Ease on Down the Road." There was also a time where she performed songs of Billie Holiday from "Lady Sings the Blues." She performed songs from other artists as well like Frankie Lymon, Spiral Staircase, Marvin Gaye, Dusty Springfield and Gloria Gaynor. She was full of energy the entire night and had offered the crowd a chance to sing along with her. She loved the love she was receiving and blew kisses to fans out in the audience. When she performed "I Will Survive" she had the Newark, NJ native and legend Gloria Gaynor come out to sing with her. She closed out her show with her hit song "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand" which really gave her and the audience an intimate connection as she shook people's hands and collected flowers. It was definitely a show that would have you on your feet. I only sat down twice and that was to change my camera batteries.
