I'm still in shock that the legendary singer Whitney Houston has passed away. I was just thinking about how I grew up listening to her music and watching her films. She was such an amazing singer and performer, words can't even explain. It seems like the music will forever have a gap within it. I honestly am crying as I type this post because not only have we lost her these past few months, but also Etta James (January 25, 1938 – January 20, 2012) and Don Cornelius (September 27, 1936 – February 1, 2012). I just couldn't find the strength to write any RIP posts. This is getting too sad for me. My prayers are extended to her family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace to the Queen of Pop.

Rest In Peace Heavy D

May 24, 1967 – November 8, 2011

I still can't believe that actor, rapper, record producer, singer and former leader of Heavy D & the Boyz, has passed away. He was only 44 years-old. I grew up listening to his music and admired his style. He had so many hit songs, such as "Now That We Found Love." He appeared in Michael Jackson's "Jam" video and Janet Jackson's "Alright" video. He will always be remembered as what he called himself the "Overweight Lover" but overall we have nothing but love for you, Heavy.

Flashback MJ: Dirty Diana 1988

This is an alter-ego photo I created in tribute to Michael Jackson (Aug 29, 1958-June 25, 2009) and model Lisa Dean (1959-Dec 1, 2009), the model whose legs appear in the "Dirty Diana" video from the Bad album released April 18, 1988. Sad to say that both of them died at the age of 50 in 2009. These photos are definitely inspired by the video and the lyrics. Long live the King of Pop!

Michael Jackson Candlelight Vigil 2011

It's hard to believe it's been two years already since the death of Michael Jackson. Of course it was my day to dress up as Michael Jackson and celebrate his life. I went to work and my co worker Deana had did my makeup for me. After that it was on. I stood outside my job and received so much love. It was amazing.




Now it was time to head over to NYC to pay my repsects to the King of Pop. On my way there we were jamming Michael Jackson tunes and waving at fans. It was amazing seeing all the reactions from fans of all ages. As we were approaching the George Washington Bridge, I looked out the window and waved at people and it helped the wait go so smoothly.



The event was held outside the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. There were so many people there and the energy was amazing. People were taking photos of me and with me the whole time. There were people wearing MJ shirts and accessories. There was news reporters out there and I was able to get a brief interview with a local station Televisa.

A name you all definitely need to look up and know is Moses Harper. She is by far the best Michael Jackson tribute artist I have ever seen. She had all the moves down to a "t" and expression. It was such an honor metting and sharing the same atmosphere with her. I'm still in awe about how down to earth she was. She was helping me break out of my shell. It was also amazing how instantly we bonded. It seemed like we knew eachother for years. That's the power of Michael Jackson. She has definitely gained a new fan and friend. The energy she posessed gave me chills. I would definitely love to see her again. Remember her name: MOSES HARPER

Rest In Peace Elizabeth Taylor

English-American actress, Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, has died. She was 79 years-old. She is considered one of the greatest actresses of classical Hollywood cinema also known as Hollywood’s Golden Age. She is known for movies such as “Cleopatra,” “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” and many more. She is known more recently for being one of Michael Jackson’s best friends. Their friendship was strong from the 1980s up until his death in 2009. Her last public appearance was his private funeral service. My prayers go out to her family and friends. She was full of beauty, style and grace. She will definitely be missed and will always be a legend.

Thinking of MJ

The last time I talked about Michael Jackson was about a year ago. The day he passed away still plays in my head like it was yesterday, I was at work when I heard he was rushed to the hospital. But like many times before you'll think "Michael will be fine, he's not going anywhere." Next thing you know you're watching the news as the Breaking News bumper appears and they have confirmation that he has died. In my last article about MJ I wrote that people have put him on the "back burner" because people like him are supposed to live forever forgetting that they are only human.
At the time of his death he was coming out with a 50 show concert "This Is It," which was only weeks away. As I watch his documentary of the tour "This Is It" I wish he would have lived to do at least one show. He was magical and had such a wonderful spirit. But he was also hurting inside. People were constantly criticizing him and pressuring him to be perfect, he felt he was not. He endured these pressures for years. Even about how he was constantly changing his looks. He only did it to fit in with society's way of thinking but they still turned their noses up. People are still talking about him now from his changes to his health and his addiction to pain medication. Maybe his body was in pain but his heart would hurt the most. I sit and wish he was still here but then to know he's in a better place makes me feel a little bit better inside. I will always keep Michael in my head forever because he was always in my heart. God bless his family.

One year later...Michael Jackson's Death

It has been a pretty easy going day. Maybe it's because of all the Michael Jackson tunes on the work radio all day. It could be because I had on a cool homemade Michael Jackson t-shirt on today or the videos on television when I got home. Michael Jackson has been gone a whole year today and tributes are happening as I type. It's still unbelievable when you think about and when you see him doing his moves in videos and live concert footage. Then you think about him as the little Michael from the Jackson 5 crooning soul tunes that can make anyone believe in love. It's still hard to believe the fact that he was preparing for a 50 concert tour "This Is It" before passing. It just still feels weird.
But I will never forget the love Michael had for his music, family. friends, fans, and the environment.
Yesterday I put together this cool photo. I'm both people in the photo and it was edited together. It is my personal tribute to the late "King of Pop."
